Living within means as opposed to getting income support
Everyone talks about how living within one’s means is the ideal way to financial management but how many people really live within their means. Half of the people on income support benefit could survive with their salaries but they don’t because they spend more than they earn therefore they expect to get the deficit from income support. Before any form of income support is given, there should be a state appointed financial advisor who should have a talk with applicants on how they can budget for the income that they get. Only when it is impossible for the earned income to sustain all needs can the financial advisor approve for an applicant to ask for income support. This is the hard way to teach people to spend less than they earn.
