Any resource on the psychology of relationships will tell you how important it is to have a form of ‘inner bonding’ with yourself. These moments of enjoying the company of your individuality is critical for you to discover and define your own self-worth and being worthy of love. Conversely such moments of self-engagement will also be therapeutically critical for an individual to deal with issues of abandonment and displacement which can have repressed psycho-emotional repercussions if dealt inadequately. When they do, they will manifest adversely into how one manages emotions and how he/she consequently handles relationships even without being fully consciously involved in the process.
